Calibration Procedures
Proper calibration is essential for maintaining image quality, colour accuracy, and compliance with industry standards. Our certified calibration procedures include:
DCI Compliance Calibration
Full DCI P3 colour gamut verification, gamma 2.6 curve alignment, luminance level certification (48 cd/m² standard, 108 cd/m² 3D), uniformity measurement to 85% corner standard, and documentation for studio compliance audits.
Laser Output Balancing
Individual laser diode current adjustment, white point calibration to D65 or DCI white, colour coordinate verification (x=0.314, y=0.351 for DCI), lumen output measurement and certification, and long-term degradation trending.
Geometry & Alignment
Convergence calibration for 3-chip DLP systems, keystone and pincushion correction, blended array edge matching, test pattern analysis and adjustment, and pixel-accurate focus uniformity across the image plane.
Thermal Management
Thermal imaging survey of internal components, airflow volume measurement at intake and exhaust, heatsink thermal resistance testing, fan speed curve validation against manufacturer specifications, and acoustic noise level verification.
Preventative Maintenance Schedules
Regular preventative maintenance extends projector lifespan, prevents costly failures, and maintains image quality. Our recommended maintenance intervals are:
Monthly (High-Use Cinema)
- Air filter inspection and cleaning
- Intake/exhaust grille debris removal
- External lens surface cleaning
- Operating hours log review
- Error log check for warnings
Quarterly (Standard Cinema)
- All monthly tasks plus:
- Internal dust removal with filtered air
- Cooling fan operation check
- Connector and cable inspection
- Lumen output measurement
- Filter replacement if required
6-Monthly (All Venues)
- All quarterly tasks plus:
- Optical path cleaning (prisms, DMD)
- Thermal paste inspection on critical ICs
- Power supply voltage rail verification
- Full DCI calibration check
- Mechanical mounting point inspection
Annual (Comprehensive)
- All 6-month tasks plus:
- Complete optical engine cleaning
- Full thermal imaging survey
- Laser bank power balance check
- Firmware update to latest stable
- Full diagnostic test suite run
- Written certification issued
